I grow attached to cities
rather than people
I can safely say
that people are far more fickle
than cities will ever be.
Each city is a foundation
a chance to be a new you
without the baggage of the past
no one else will define you.
When I was younger,
leaving behind friends was the trouble
never having those roads to play in again
or those stairs to rumble over.
As I grow older, I realise
this gift of reinvention that
comes packaged in ideas of adaptability
A chameleon looking for its next camouflage,
this chance to pursue a new dream.
